Earlier this summer, Rachel and John joined one another in marriage at an intimate chapel in Raleigh, North Carolina. What was supposed to be an event in the Blue Ridge Mountains was exchanged for a smaller ceremony nearer to their home town. Limited in their guest count due to pandemic restrictions, the couple surrounded themselves with family and their closest friends for an evening full of rich memories spent with the people they love most.
Rachel and John grew up ten minutes apart from one other in Durham, North Carolina. Later in life, they were introduced to one another by a mutual friend and have been together ever since.
The Parlour at Mann’s Chapel was the perfect place for this intimate gathering. Established in 1887, the charming chapel honors and gives nod to the past with original stained glass windows and pine floors. Such a venue welcomes new beginnings and relishes in the history to be made by a newly married couple.
The luscious florals flowing from the courtyard was the backdrop for the pair’s first look. For John, he could not contain his emotion when he first laid eyes upon his soon-to-be bride. The two embraced and sighed with relief that today, after all of their planning and re-planning, they would now become husband and wife.
The ceremony was their most anticipated event to capture for memory’s sake and it proved to be just that. As Rachel began to walk down the aisle, a thunder could broke open and rain poured from the sky. Umbrellas were quickly dispersed and guests chose to remain outside so that the ceremony could continue. As the two were set to share their first kiss, John tossed him umbrella and they shared their first kiss in the rain.
At the end of the night, Rachel and John snuck outside to share a private dance on the patio underneath the string lights.
“Wow. I was in tears!! It really felt like we were back living that day again!! Thank you so much for putting together our story so beautifully.”
